Huge Nerf Battle Dream

Last night I had a crazy dream. First off, there are a few Nerf guns at work that my coworkers like to shoot at each other every once in a while. I don't have a Nerf gun so I am not involved in these skirmishes. Anyway, last night I had a dream that my Brother in law, Brendon who is two rows down had his team of about 5 people each bring in their own super massive Nerf guns. They started a battle with my team.

These Nerf bullets were huge. About as thick around as footballs and about 30 inches long. I was sitting at my desk which kind of faces Brendon's row and over the wall came one of these bullets and hit me right in the face. It almost knocked me off my seat. I was pissed off! Of course I didn't have a Nerf gun and if I did, these big bullets definitely wouldn't load into it. So I just picked up the bullet and threw it like a football back at the offenders.

At the same time more of these large Nerf bullets kept flying over which I dodged. The other members of my team pulled out their wimpy little Nerf guns and started shooting back, only to be laughed at by Brendon's team. I was getting into it, gathering all these large bullets and hurling them at high speeds back at Brendon's team.

About this time Jaye walked around the corner at which time everyone hurried to get back in there seats. We were all busted.

So what could this dream mean? Do I feel inferior at work? Do I goof around too much? Do I feel competitive with others at work? Lately I've been feeling more and more confident with my skills and knowledge so I'm feeling better about my abilities than I have say a year ago. But perhaps my subconscious is still aware of my weaknesses (compared to very talented and bright people at Tomax) and reminding me to be humble. Physical strengths don't really help programmers do well at their jobs.

Also perhaps my subconscious is reminding me to not be more productive and be more aware of my responsibilities to the company. Otherwise I might be held accountable by management. Anyway it was kind of a funny dream.

Vosens is a bread paradise

I've been a loyal customer of Vosen's for the past year and I'm continuously reminded why every time I go in there. I get my Ciabattas but every once in a while they throw in a little something extra. So I go there not only because the quality is outstanding, but the customer service and friendliness is superb. Charina is awesome.

Repentance and Aggravation

In the past I've eaten the following at my desk which I did know was noisy, but figured I could just do so discretely and quietly which we all know is nearly impossible:

  • apples

  • baby carrots

  • corn nuts

  • pretzels

  • chex mix

  • mini rice cakes

  • slurping the last few drops of soda out of a cup through a straw

I should be thrust down to hell for this I know. So I hereby repent of these iniquities and vow to never eat noisy foods at my desk. The reason for this change of heart? Fellow employees are eating these foods at their desk and man is it annoying! I end up plugging my headphones in and blasting some good tunes, but I can still hear it!

If I have worked with you and annoyed you in the past, from the bottom of my heart, please forgive me and know that I am now in the circle of more polite employees. I will try to be more mindful of my annoying activities at work and avoid them at all costs.

Listen to this and tell me if this wouldn't really bug you.

St. Patricks Day 2009

Last night I had a plan to wake up this morning and make a green breakfast for the kids. I got my new swimsuits yesterday, but decided that there are times to be a exercise fanatic, and times to be a Dad so I was the latter this morning.

So I woke up and made green pancakes and green scrambled eggs for the kids for breakfast.

They didn't flinch at the color and just ate everything right up. Here are some pictures:

Response from President Obama

Recently I sent President Obama a message welcoming him to office and mentioned my hope for a better country. Here is his response which I got today:

Dear Gordon:

Thank you for your recent note, and for sharing your thoughts with me. Your kind words echo the messages of millions of Americans who have welcomed me and my family to the White House with an outpouring of goodwill.

On January 20th, Americans spoke with one voice, choosing hope over fear, unity of purpose over conflict and discord. Our Nation faces serious challenges, but we will overcome them if our imagination is joined to common purpose.

Now is our time to work together, reaffirm our enduring spirit, and choose our better history. With your help, we will renew our Nation's promise to carry forth the great gift of freedom to future generations, as our forebears have delivered it
to us.

Sincerely,

Barack Obama

Chris Pirillo - a geek who bugs me

I don't mean to give this guy more attention, but dang! I wish he were my little brother and I give him a noogie he'd never forget!

Every once in a while I come across someone who totally grates me. I was listening to cnn.com live and I've seen this tech guy twice and I had to turn it off.

Chris Pirillo is a self-proclaimed Geek who reviews stuff and does a vlog. Just the way he talks totally bugs me. He's a small guy with a big head. If he were right here I'd break his little pencil neck (figuratively speaking).

On the other hand, there are guys at my work who gave me the same first impression, but after getting to know them, I've been able to look past my perception of them.

If you're bored and checkout his site, tell me if you think he's annoying or if I'm just ultra-sensitive and need to chill.

It's a Dump Truck Dad!

This morning I was helping Sam get out of the bath and get dressed. He is going through potty training right now (I know it's late and its about time!). He has some "Cars" underwear and on the back of this morning's pair was this character.

Sam wanted to see who was on his underwear and I said, "It's a truck from Cars. Cool! Now Sam don't you poop on the truck. You keep him dry and clean!" Isaac who was still in the tub, piped up, "Dad it's not just ANY truck. It's a dump truck!". I was shocked. Did he know what he was saying? I answered, "Well don't you fill up that Dump Truck Sam!" It was funny.
